Year-Over-Year Growth Ranks Second Among the Provinces
Latest economic figures from Statistics Canada report that the province’s wholesale trade increased by 17.9 per cent in July 2026 compared to July 2025 (excluding petroleum, petroleum products, other hydrocarbons, and oilseeds and grain). The value of wholesale trade totaled $5.3 billion.
“Saskatchewan is a key supplier to the world and these numbers are another sign of the strength and resilience of Saskatchewan’s economy,” Trade and Export Development Minister Warren Kaeding said. “This level of economic activity creates a healthy and competitive environment for all business owners and workers in this province, and in turn makes it possible to deliver the services and programs our communities rely on.”
Wholesale trade is a measure of the value of goods purchased in large quantities with the intention of being sold to resellers, but not to final consumers. These numbers exclude petroleum, petroleum products, and other hydrocarbons and exclude oilseed and grain.
Statistics Canada’s latest Gross Domestic Product (GDP) numbers indicate that Saskatchewan’s 2025 real GDP reached an all-time high of $85.4 billion. This was an increase of 2.2 per cent, putting the province well above the national average of 1.7 per cent.
Private capital investment in Saskatchewan increased last year by 12 per cent to $13.6 billion, ranking first among provinces. Efforts behind the province’s Securing the Next Decade of Growth: Saskatchewan’s Investment Attraction Strategy are driving that momentum.
