Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage (CCUS)
Saskatchewan has well-developed strategies to reduce methane emissions and promote CCUS. We offer competitive incentives, world class geology and outcome-based regulations to firmly position us for large scale projects. We have the largest carbon capture utilization and storage project in the world.
Strong Support Systems for Oil and Gas
Our energy industry benefits from a competitive and stable regulatory environment and a strong network of suppliers alongside a supportive government.
Oil
We’re Canada’s second largest oil producer, with nearly 1.6 billion barrels in reserves. The province combines strong refining capacity, an extensive pipeline network, and innovative CO₂ -based recovery from depleted reservoirs.
Natural Gas
We’re the third largest natural gas producer in Canada with 143.4 billion cubic feet produced in 2021 and estimated recoverable gas reserves of 1.8 trillion cubic feet.
